Leanne Daquino is a Melbourne-based mixed media artist who began a new creative chapter after a 25 year career in education, drawing on a lifelong love of flowers inspired by her family’s gardening roots. Though she doesn’t claim a green thumb, she “gardens with a paintbrush,” creating vibrant abstract floral works that celebrate colour, texture, and memory, each piece designed to spark joy, evoke nostalgia, and foster connection. With a special fondness for hydrangeas, her practice centres on Gelli plate printing and collage, layering rich textures and tones to produce artworks that are both playful and emotive. Entirely self-taught, Leanne’s work reflects her belief that it’s never too late to explore creativity, inviting viewers to step into her painted gardens and reconnect with the simple, uplifting beauty of everyday life.
