Based on the Mornington Peninsula, this contemporary artist brings her creative journey full circle, from her roots in freehand signwriting and bespoke signage to the boundless expression of abstract art. Her work bridges two distinct worlds: Urban Rhythm and Coastal Contemplation, each a reflection of the life and landscapes that inspire her.
In Urban Rhythm, Jackie channels the heartbeat of the
city, an electric fusion of pastels, neons, typography, and symbolism that captures the raw, intoxicating energy of modern urban life. Influenced by her time in Melbourne
and culture-rich cities abroad, her canvases echo the pulse of pavement, the shimmer of fashion, and the flicker of
neon, a celebration of the beauty found in everyday chaos. Then comes Coastal Contemplation, a soulful exhale inspired by her Sorrento surrounds. Here, Jackie turns to the coastline, where whispers of the sea and the stillness
of sand are distilled into serene compositions of muted tones and natural textures. Mixing organic coastal elements by hand and layering them onto her canvases, she conjures the calm and clarity of the shore, offering viewers a sense of effortless, joyous tranquillity.

Q: How did your early work as a hand signwriter
influence your abstract artworks?
A: My background in hand-painted signage has had a
huge impact on my art. I’ve always loved hand-painted work, sign ghosting, and typography, and those elements naturally found their way into my paintings, especially
in my urban and Moroccan styles. My love of old hand-painted signs and ghosted lettering is actually how my layering process began. I wanted my artworks to include
all the key parts of my life, signwriting, art, and photography, so layering became a way to blend them together. I love that each layer can look like an old wall, with every layer representing another story, another lifetime, another hidden message.
Q: Do you ever hide messages in your art for viewers
to discover?
A: Yes, I always include hidden messages in my work.
Every artwork contains something personal, sometimes
a meaningful poem or song lyric for a commission, and often the word “love” or a small heart, because I believe there should always be love in the piece. The words and symbols I use serve both visual and personal purposes. Some artworks clearly convey themes like summer, joy,
or fun times at the beach, while others include song lyrics
I love, such as Fleetwood Mac, or words written so they’re hard to read, inviting the viewer to discover their own meaning. Recurring motifs are also important to me, elements often appear in threes, my favourite number, which gives a subtle pattern across my work.
